はじめまして。 ぼくはMcMillanです。 あめりかじんです。 いちねんせいです。 せんこうはせいじがくです。 どうぞよろしく。 Phew, writing in Japanese on a computer sure isn't easy, but hopefully I introduced myself okay... As for what I want to introduce, it is a place in Akihabara, Tokyo famous for its huge collection of video game paraphernalia: SUPER POTATO! Don't let the name fool you, this is a Mecca for all things involved with retro gaming from the Nintendo Famicom to Japanese exclusives to a whole floor filled with retro arcade games. While this has always been by number one for visiting in Japan (even if my wallet doesn't agree), I'm interested in Akihabara as a whole for being the center of Japanese Pop Culture, my first reason for becoming interested in the Japanese language.Among visiting Tokyo, I'm hoping learning the Japanese language can aid me in traveling across the whole country to experience its culture. じゃあまた。

The Journey's Beginning

Finally! I've always wanted to study Japanese for as long as I've been interested in Japan's Pop-Culture (starting way back with Pokemon back when I was 3). From this, my fascination for all things Japanese has grown from the cultural to the historical and everything in between. I tried training myself with Hiragana, but my knowledge of Katakana and Kanji are much too lacking for me to be anywhere near proficient! My goal is to be able to read all types of Japanese literature and to communicate effectively by the end of my studies. Whether or not I can listen to anime without subtitles or read manga in its native language isn't a necessity, but it would hurt! From what we have already covered (some Hiragana as well as their stroke order and  basic greetings and goodbyes) I have already felt infinitely more confident then I had been prior to starting this course. Here's to a great year of study!
